A madeleine is a memory that melts on the tongue. Born in Commercy, Lorraine, in the 18th century, it’s said to have been created by a young maid named Madeleine, who improvised a simple cake of eggs, sugar, flour, and butter in a scallop shell.
Since then, its iconic shape and delicate aroma have stood the test of time. Our recipe stays true to tradition: a soft, golden batter with a hint of lemon, rising gently into its signature hump — like a quiet smile.
Each madeleine is a little wave of sweetness, a moment suspended between childhood and elegance.
Ingredients: Wheat flour, sugar, eggs, butter, milk, lemon zest, vanilla.
Allergens: Gluten (wheat), milk (dairy), eggs.
Serving suggestions: Best enjoyed fresh on the day of baking. To restore their gentle warmth, reheat briefly in a low oven (150 °C / 300 °F) for a few minutes. Perfect on their own, or paired with tea, coffee, or hot chocolate.
