Little Caramelized Treasures from Bordeaux
Born sometime between the 16th and 18th centuries in the fragrant streets of Bordeaux, canelés tell a story of patience and indulgence. Once crafted by nuns, these small cakes with crisp edges and tender hearts have crossed the centuries without losing their charm.
At La belle Plume, the recipe remains true to tradition: a batter gently scented with vanilla and rum, slowly baked in copper molds to reveal that perfect alchemy of crunch and softness.
Each bite is a sweet caress — a whisper from the past that dances on the palate.
Ingredients: Milk, sugar, wheat flour, eggs, butter, vanilla, rum.
Allergens: Gluten (wheat), milk (dairy), eggs.
Serving suggestions: Best enjoyed the day they are baked, when the crust is still caramelized and crisp. If needed, reheat gently for a few minutes at 180 °C (350 °F) to revive their texture. Delicious on their own, or paired with coffee, tea, or a glass of dessert wine.
